In GW2, your HoM statue should have the following:
Here lies **********
He/She save the world a lot.
Geek reference:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer's epitaph when she died after the Gloria season.

If it's PvE only, maybe. Although, just like with the names, people would abuse the weapon names (e.g. John Doe Hates Knee Grows, John Doe's Big Pea Ness, Mustaf Herod Apyur Puper (for all the SNL fans?))
I like the idea, but we can't trust the community to be responsible.

Why should you care if someone names their weapon that? If what someone does online angers you, you should take a break from online games.
/signed, great idea. If bugs can have green weapons then so can we.

it would not be unbalanced for PvP, you Pvper's have no idea what you are talking about anymore. There are colectors with focus items that have the same stats as shields, with out the added 16 armor, but we all know that is not very much anyways. I have a divine favor focus, +12 energy, -5 damage vers physical, and +30hp, requires 9 divine favor, what would be the difference if they gave up energy for armor, in fact it would be stupid, but hey if that is what they want, so be it.

hm...id make a req9 healing shield with +1healing prayers(20%) and +30hp kinda haxxor .. i like the idea as my quest for a tyrian skinned q7 tactics, +1healing(20%), +30hp shield has continued to fail.
would create some crazy stuff
with the said restrictions i think its a cool idea, doubt anet will do it sadlies..

I'd prefer my weapons be useable in PvP, too, if I've grown attached enough to a character and weapon. (Lots of PvE characters in AB, I think...).
--Req 9
--UNLOCK the skin (someone on page 6 or 7 said this...great idea. I would prefer to see the only unlock method be to ID, NOT to purchase. Too easy to buy something from a friend or guildie for 10g).
--unlock via ID the mods, including inscriptions
--Current requirements for weapons, shields, and offhands (tragically, no Expertise bows *sniff*, nor Leadership shields *sniff*, nor Soul Reaping Swords (...back when I tried necro-warrior as a total nooblet, not understanding the difference between melee and casters...)
--named "[character's name]'s <prefix> <weapon> of <suffix>" OR, I suppose, I would accept a unique name, capped at some number of characters.
--displayable in HoM
--useable in all areas of game
--crafted as customized gold or green item, unsellable
--uses plety of rare crafting materials, 15k in plat (cost of an elite armor piece)
--craftable in all end-game areas: EotN, Factions, Prophecies, NF.
--blah blah. all the stuff's been said.
If one wanted the weapon to be more significant than average, consider requiring that a character have completed the END-GAME or "elite" content of a given chapter, not just the final missions: All titan quests. Mallyx. UW/FoW complete. Duncan. Urgoz/Deep.
Tragically, A-net could even tie acquisition to a title. When you achieve Guardian? Vanquisher? Protector? KoABD?, an NPC could tell you to go to location x to see the crafter.
(not my favorite plan at all, but couldn't you just see this coming?)
I like the OP's idea. It's a great end to the legend of [character name].

To the mental geniuses who talk about wammos wielding "ur mom", if it can only have your name on the weapon, how can it have ur mom on it? I seriously doubt there are any wammos out there that level to 20(a good req to make the weapon) with that name. I'd think they'd get banned before then. That solves that problem.
Also, take the idea that they can only be weapons native to your profession(no hammers with expertise, shields with prot, etc). that blows away the problem of being overpowered as a monk or whatever.
To those crying about it ruining the market...what? It will still cost 100k. Another green at 30k would still be a bargain, and a crystalline low-req sword is still rare enough to be worth more than 100k.
If they got the money, screw it. let them do it.

stupidity at its finest.
using a standard shield, without meeting the requirement:
(1-(.5)^(8/40))*100% = ~13% damage reduction
increase of 16 armor will yield:
(1-(.5)^(16/40))*100% = ~25% damage reduction
13% damage reduction is huge. 25% damage reduction is even more powerful. currently, the only way to get +16AL (without taking +10AL vs type inscriptions into account), is to spec tactics/motivation to 9, or get lucky and score one of those req7, 16AL shields (which at last count, there were about 6 of them in the entire game).
now you're advocating EVERYONE be able to get one of these things. what's worse, you want the shield to be in the attribute of their choice? please think things through before posting inane pieces of crap.
PS: there's a reason why top gvgers always carry a set of shields. the amount of damage they negate over the entire course of a match is a lot greater than +12energy. if they really want more energy, they'll just weapon swap.

I love the idea but agree with the need for limitaions.
Heres my ideas/sum up of ideas I like:
- Req 9
- Choice of any weapon type.
- Auto customized.
- Sensible requirments (No Death swords).
- You have a choice of any existing mods/inscriptions to put on it. (weapon specific still)
- A choice of any skin. (Not sure on this, I guess some would be out of bounds.)
- Choice of dye/mix of dyes.
- The name of the weapon (In this example a sword) would be: *characters name*'s sword (or) The Sword of *character's name*. (You would maybe have a choice, e.g sword/blade).
So for my warrior it would be: A Lepracorn's Sword (or) A Lepracorn's Blade (or) The Blade of A Lepracorn (or) The Sword of A Lepracorn. No freelance names.
- Cost. I am not sure on this yet, you could either have to pay for any you want or you get a free one for completing each campaign but you must pay for each subsiquent one.
-Limit. I am again not sure if there should be a character limit, would be good t o have sheild and sword or wand and offhand but then again it would make it much less special.
- Once made it cannot be changed or customized further.
Just my ideas and thoughts on the subject.
